Here at ALA, we love to help parents educate at home under the legal cover of a church school as the law permits in Alabama.
- What area do we cover? We cover the state of Alabama.
- What curriculum should I use for homeschooling? This is up to you, you make all educational decisions for your children/students.
- How many days a year do you have to homeschool with ALA? You have to homeschool at least 180 days per year. Our school year is year-round, which gives you an option to not have any missed days when you have 365 days for you to accomplish this goal.
- What does it cost to register? $65 to enroll; $65 to re-enroll if paid during the normal re-enrollment period. Those fees include an online processing fee.
- Is ALA an online school? No, we’re not an online school. Alabama Learning Academy (ALA) is a church school that supports and offers administrative services to help parents homeschool in Alabama. You can use an online curriculum or hard copy/book curriculum. But, you need to enroll in a church school in Alabama to legally homeschool.
- Do I drop my kids off anywhere for classes? Never, this is 100% YOUR responsibility, not the responsibility of the church school. We do not have any on-campus or off-campus classes.
- When does the school year start and stop? It ends June 1st of each year and it begins August 1st, but you can enroll
